Major regeneration works are now well underway in Camberley town centre, as the transformation of key areas including London Road and the High Street has begun in earnest. The initial phase of the redevelopment includes the systematic strip-out of fixtures, fittings, and the safe removal of asbestos from several derelict buildings – a critical first step toward revitalising the heart of the town.
This specialist work is being carried out by local contractor R Collard Ltd, a company with extensive experience in environmental services and demolition. All asbestos removal is being conducted under the strict supervision of Life Environmental Services, independent asbestos consultants ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards. These operations are paving the way for the safe and controlled demolition of several structures, including the landmark former Allders department store.
On Friday 18th July, the site welcomed several elected Councillors who were invited to tour the area ahead of the upcoming demolition phase. This included a rare opportunity to walk through the historic Allders building, which is scheduled to be demolished early next year. Their visit marks a significant milestone in the project, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between public officials, local authorities, and private sector partners.
