Oander has successfully completed a full refurbishment of The Grove Medical Centre, enhancing the quality and functionality of the primary care environment for patients and staff in Egham.
The project was delivered for NHS Property Services with a construction value of approximately £260,000. Oander provided a comprehensive service, acting as Project Manager, Contract Administrator, Cost Manager and Principal Designer from inception through to completion.
Complete modernisation of the practice environment
The scheme involved a full internal refurbishment of the existing medical centre, designed to improve the day-to-day experience for both clinicians and patients. Works included:
- Installation of new floor finishes throughout
- Full internal redecoration
- Replacement of IPS units
- Extension and upgrade of building services
The result is a refreshed, modern and more efficient healthcare setting that supports the continued delivery of high-quality primary care services.
Funded through national primary care investment
The refurbishment was funded through the Primary Care Utilisation and Modernisation Fund (UMF), a major capital investment programme led by NHS England. The fund is providing £102 million during 2025/26 to upgrade more than 1,000 GP surgery premises across the country.
Accessing UMF funding relies on strong collaboration between the Integrated Care Board (ICB), the landlord (NHS Property Services) and the GP practice as tenant. This partnership model ensures projects are well-governed, strategically aligned and delivered efficiently.
Enabling delivery at scale
NHS Property Services manages approximately 3,500 healthcare properties across England, acting as the conduit for programmes like the UMF and providing the platform to accelerate estate improvements that directly support GP practices.
Working alongside NHS Property Services, Oander brought the specialist expertise required to deliver the project within tight national funding timescales, ensuring the refurbishment progressed smoothly and efficiently.
